Storage Cryptography

This session will discuss the issues of encrypting data between computer systems and their storage devices. This low level security measure will maintain all disk and tape to be kept at a distance from the machine without risk of snooping the networks or storage devices themselves. We will talk about algorithms, methods, risk solved and risks remaining.

 

Jim Hughes is a Fellow at Storage Technology Corporation where he specializes in high performance networking, storage networking and information security issues. Most recently Jim has published papers on weaknesses in Braid Group Cryptography. His 22 years at STK, 15 of which were at Network Systems Corporation before it was acquired by STK.
