Download slides (pdf 545 KB) Advances in protein chemistry, mass spectrometry instrumentation and computer-aided automation have catalyzed the field of proteomics, which has the ambitious goal of documenting all of the biochemical properties of the proteins within an organism, cell, tissue or fluid. In this talk I will discuss the current state of mass spectrometry-based proteomics, with special emphasis on the information produced from these studies, and the informatic challenges that it presents.
