Quaternion Fourier Transforms are a new tool in image and signal processing when the underlying signals are multi-dimensional or vectorial in nature. This talk is based on research dating back to the 1990s and provides an introduction the quaternion algebra, how they are used in a quaternion abstraction of the standard complex Fourier transform and discusses various examples of their applications to signals and images.

 

Todd A. Ell graduated with a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1992. He is currently a Technical Fellow at UTC Aerospace Systems, Burnsville, MN (since 2002).
