NSF grant for collaborative project
Pine Technical College is very
pleased to announce the award of a National Science Foundation
grant in support of a collaborative project with the University of Minnesota
and DuPont’s Automotive Refinishing division entitled Simulating the
Visual Appearance and Physical Application of Automotive Surface Finishes.
Ours was among fifteen Highly Recommended proposals funded out of 222
submitted to NSF for review under the latest Partnerships for Innovation
Program.
This project will combine the virtual reality spray painting expertise of the
Johnson Center for Virtual Reality at Pine Technical College with the
cutting-edge research in the realistic computer rendering of automotive
finishes being done Gary Meyer, PhD, at the Digital Technology Center of the
University of Minnesota. We see wide potential for resulting training,
design, and marketing tools.
