Stergios Roumeliotis named Associate Director for Research at the Digital Technology Center
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR STERGIOS ROUMELIOTIS from the department of Computer Science and Engineering has been named the Associate Director for Research at the Digital Technology Center (DTC). Stergios has been a DTC faculty member since 2002 and has actively participated in DTC research and outreach programs.
In his new position, Stergios will be working to leverage DTC resources and foster collaborations between interdisciplinary teams from labs, departments, and centers around the university and across the country to compete for large-scale research centers and grants. As an investigator in one of DTC's first Industry/University Cooperative Research Centers, the Safety, Security, and Rescue Research Center (SSRRC), Stergios also understands the need and role of industry involvement in research. In his new position, he will actively seek to develop new collaborative opportunities between DTC faculty and industrial partners.
A nationally recognized researcher and a recent recipient of the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), Stergios will work with the DTC Director, Professor Georgios Giannakis, to realize DTC's potential as a center of excellence and a focal point for researchers and entrepreneurs across different disciplines collaborating on fundamental and applied research.
