2002 ADC FELLOW SHENGLI ZHOU (EE, Ph.D. '02) was honored at the White House in December as a recipient of the 2007 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, the nation's highest honor for researchers in the early stages of their careers. Zhou, an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Connecticut, is one of 15 award recipients nominated by the U.S. Department of Defense. While studying for his Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota, Zhou was advised by Professor Georgios Giannakis. Shengli's citation was on "Ground-Breaking Research for Underwater Communications and Networking," a subject on which he received the ONR Young Investigator Award last year.
