On Wednesday May 7th 2008, MSI/DTC staff will take advantage of our regularly scheduled maintenance window to perform maintenance and upgrades to the network and systems. There will be a full outage for a period of time. Please find details below.
Network
The MSI and DTC network upgrade to install the new 10 Gb gear will affect
internet connectivity from 5:30am–8am for MSI, DTC, CS and LCSE
machines in Walter Library. ITDEAN website and file servers will also
be affected.
Core Systems
Core systems (Calhoun, Altix, Blade, Netfinity, and Regatta systems) will
be down starting at 6am until approximately 6pm (12 hours). No jobs will
be scheduled that cannot be completed before the downtime. Accurate
estimates of wall clock time will help schedule your jobs.
Labs and DTC
Systems work from 6am–8am will affect all MSI and DTC systems, including all labs. Specific affected systems include mail, authentication, software licenses, and database systems. All users may be unable to log in, use email, run software, print, or view MSI-hosted websites from 6am–8am.
Some database work will continue throughout the day. Expressionist is scheduled to be back up after 9am.
No jobs running in the lab PBS queues will start if they cannot be completed before 6am on May 7th. Accurate estimates of wall clock time will help schedule your jobs. If necessary, they will start after 8am.
itdean
IT Dean systems affected will include the websites and shared file server. They will be affected between 5:30am–8am. Email, printing, internet, and login abilities will not be affected.
