A central file system with approximately
7 TB usable fibre channel RAID disk is provided.
Files in the home directories and in /project will be backed up nightly.
Nightly backups are kept for 30 days.
The /scratch file system is meant to be used for temporary storage, and as
such, it is not backed up. Files in /scratch that haven't been modified
for 30 days will be automatically removed. Touching files will not affect
the deletion date. You may ask for an extension on your scratch directory.
To do so, send email to help@dtc.umn.edu. Include the name of the
directory and a date when the files can be removed. All files in the
specified directory will not be removed until the given date. On the given
date, files not modified for more than 30 days will be automatically removed.
