Query Routing in the Social Web
Towards Social Search: Query Routing in the Social
Web
The emergence of the world wide web has brought
to attention yet another web—the social web. While social sciences
have extensively studied various aspects of societies and social
interactions, we are currently in a position to engineer methods,
services and solutions based on the social web. One important emerging
class of such methods can be broadly called social search, which is a
radically different way of searching for information than the currently
popular method of using search engines. We argue that there are several
practical situations where the use of search engines in their current
form (e.g., Google) is inefficient, and often not feasible. The goal of
this proposal to study a novel approach to social search based on query
routing in the social web.
