Discrete, statistical and computational methods in rat neural spoke train decoding
Novel and exciting theoretical phenomena concerning rat neural spike train decoding have recently been observed by Redish and his collaborators, suggesting the possibility for mathematical modeling of the cognitive processes underlying spatial learning. This project aims to take advantage of the proximity and spectrum of talents (in applied and theoretical mathematics, and experimental neuroscience) of the investigators to give rigorous support of the idea. Funding is applied to support the postdoctoral investigator Yong's work for the principal investigator Nykamp and investigator Redish.
