An Integrated Approach for Analyzing Mammograms
We plan to develop a system for creating a mammogram database, which will be used for detection of small and potentially malignant lesions. This research will be carried out by using the latest tools of information technology and visualization. We plan to develop a user-friendly interface which radiologists can use from interrogating and visualizing the mammogram data over the internet. Various tools of pattern recognition and computer vision will be used to enhance the mammogram images and to extract salient features, which can shed light on the early formation of breast cancer. This research will be carried out with a multi-pronged approach, which involves mathematical analysis, data-mining and visualization techniques.
